Turkey Trot

Twenty seven people ranging in age from infants to grandmothers took part in the Great American Smoke-Out Quit Cold Turkey Trot in Choteau on Nov. 23.

The Teton County Health Department sponsored the events.

Registration was free and participants competed in either a three-mile or one-mile fun run. Prizes were awarded for the top finishers in both races. Jesse Campbell of Choteau won the one-mile fun run in a time of 24:30. He received a free pass to the Roxy Theatre and a Roxy box, donated by Roxy Theatre owners Sue and Larry Schilling.

The top male and female winners in the three-mile race received ingredients for a Thanksgiving dinner donated by Bylers Baker, Miller Colony, Mountain Front Market and Rex’s Market. The winners were Trent Tchida, who is only 9 years old, at 25:04 and adult Lonnie Lewis, who finished in 25:05.

Jeff Martinsen finished third overall in the three-mile race and received a $30 gift certificate for dinner donated by JD’s Wildlife Sanctuary in Bynum.

Melody Martinsen, 31:39; 8. Karrie Crabtree, 31:39; 9. Samara DeBruckyer, 35:36; 10. Kay DeBruycker, 35:36; 11. Gage Hlavac, 38:57; 12. Charles Hlavac, 38:57; 13. Kim Lugthart, 43:16; 14. Genny Barhaugh, 43:16; 15. Ann Funk, 43:50; 16. Cathy Session, 43:50; 17. Karen Horn, 43:50; 18. Carla May, 43:50; 19. Zina Coley, 50:44; and 20. Tammy Eaton, 50:45.
