Class C VB

The volleyball season of Class C Dutton/Brady and Power high schools came to an end at the District 6C volleyball tournament Oct. 28-30 in Simms.

The Power Pirates played in two nail biters with Cascade and Great Falls Central Catholic during the tournament and lost to the winners of the tournament, Simms.

The Pirates won their opening match, defeating Cascade in a match that went to five games. The two teams battled every point and see-sawed back and forth with victories. Cascade won the first game of the match 25-21, Power the next 29-27 and Cascade took the third 27-25. Power rallied in the fourth game to stay in the winning, 25-21, and finished off the match with a 15-13 win.

The ladies faced off against Simms in their second match of the tournament and lost in three to the powerhouse team.

The loss dropped the Lady Pirates into loser-out action against Great Falls Central Catholic. This match also went to five games. GFCC took the first game of the match, 25-13. Power played strong the next two games, winning 25-23 and 25-22. The third match was close once again, but Power couldn’t put the Mustangs away and they won 25-22. With the momentum of the four games, the Mustangs won the final game and the match, 15-9.

Power has four seniors on the team: Amara Bodkins, Samantha Roos, Brodi Niebaum and Antonella De Rosa.

Dutton/Brady had a hard first round match, playing tournament winner Simms. They were handily defeated in the first two games but came back in the third match and played back and forth with the Tigers before being defeated 25-14. In loser-out action, the DiamondBacks lost to Cascade, 25-13, 25-10, 25-14.

There are no seniors on the Dutton/Brady team.
