The Montana Department of Revenue is calling for comments on the proposed transfer of the all-alcoholic beverages license for the Rose Thorn Tavern (formerly Mike’s Club) in Dutton from long-time owners Miguel A. and Patricia Bayala-Jtros to Tyler R. Jung.
Jung is purchasing the property and has applied to obtain the license to use in his “Rose Thorn Tavern,” at 19 Main St. W., Dutton.
In a legal notice in this week’s Acantha, the Department of Revenue’s Alcoholic Beverage Control Division said that any resident of Teton County or adjoining counties can submit letters protesting the liquor license transfer based on the applicants’ qualifications listed in Montana Code Annotated 16-4-401 or the grounds for denial of an applications in 16-4-405, MCA.
Protests must be submitted in writing to the Department of Revenue, Office of Dispute Resolution, P.O. Box 5805, Helena, MT, 59604-5805 on or before April 10.
Depending on the number of protests (if any) and the protest grounds, a public hearing will be held in Helena or Choteau on the protests. All valid protestors will be notified of the hearing’s time, date and location. Hearings are typically set within 90 days of the deadline to file the protest.
Following the hearing, the Department of Revenue will notify the public whether the license transfer is approved or denied.
Any questions about the process can be directed to Patty Kautz, a compliance specialist for the Department of Revenue’s Alcoholic Beverage Control Division at 406-444-0017 or by emailing her at PKautz@mt.gov.
