Mark your calendar to attend the 2019 Power Harvest Fest celebration Sept. 27 and 28.
Activities are planned throughout the two-day event including volleyball action on Friday night and football on Saturday afternoon, the firemen’s breakfast on Saturday morning, a pie and ice cream social, parade and dinner. Volunteers are needed to help with a number of these activities.
The theme for this year’s festival is #PowerHF34 - Hashtag Power Harvest Fest 34, since it is the 34th year of the celebration.
Thinking of decorating a float? Organizers of the yearly celebration said it could be anything dealing with social media or hashtags (which is a Twitter symbol). Organizers are in the process of setting up so people can use the hashtag to upload their pictures during the weekend.
The parade lineup starts at 10 a.m. on Sept. 28 followed by judging and the parade at 11 a.m. Anyone wishing to participate in the parade is welcome.
Organizers hope to hold the Wacky Quacky Duck Race on Saturday. Anyone interested in spearheading this activity should contact Jennifer Ulsh.
Anyone with items for the silent auction or also asked to contact Ulsh. School baskets and silent auction items will be in the school on Saturday.
The Harvest Fest community dinner will be held Saturday at 6 p.m. Tickets will be $20 for the steak and shrimp dinner and will be sold at the Mountain View Coop and Les’s Bar soon.
The dinner will take place in the school gym this year. Volunteers are needed to set up Friday night after the volleyball game and take down after the dinner.
Following the dinner will be the dessert live auction.
The committee is finalizing details on entertainment and a potential street dance on Friday.
