Choteau resident Nancy Milewski is inviting Choteau community members to donate items that international refugees coming to Missoula can use as they start their new lives in the United States.

In late November or early December, Milewski will begin volunteering in Missoula with two refugee resettlement organizations — the International Rescue Committee and Soft Landing Missoula. Information about these two organizations is available online at www.rescue.org/united-states/missoula-mt and at softlandingmissoula.org, respectively.

“I’m hoping to gather, then deliver some items to Missoula in the next few weeks. It would be great if I could have these items by Nov. 15,” Milewski said. “Folks can call me to pick them up, or make a time to drop them by my house, by calling me at 406-590-9031. I usually don’t answer my phone, like so many people, if I don't recognize the number. So please be sure to leave me a message!”

She said the most-needed items include: disposable diapers for all sizes of children, personal care wipes, laundry detergent, full-size bars of soap, deodorants, new or gently used and clean/washed winter jackets, waterproof gloves or mittens, snow pants and waterproof boots.

“I would love to ‘blow them away’ with the generosity of the citizens of Choteau, Montana,” Melewski said. “Can you help in some small way?”
