Chili cook-off

Jennifer Brant was the first-place winner of the third annual Dutton Civic Club Chili Cook-Off on Nov. 30 at the Dutton American Legion Hall.

Brant won the competition with her Chuck Wagon Chili. This isn’t Brant’s first year being recognized. She took second place the first year and first place last year. She is the reigning two-year champion.

Second place went to Gail Habel for her basic chili recipe. Her husband, Clay Habel, took first place the first year of the cook-off but was unable to participate last year.

Colleen Campbell, one of the organizers of the event, said it was a fun night despite the number of chili entries being down from the past two years. “We enjoyed the musicians from Dutton, Fairfield and Choteau,” she added.

Campbell said the Civic Club made enough money to cover its spring scholarship and the EF students also did well as they accepted donations for ice cream sundaes served as dessert.
