Forbes has recognized Benefis Health System of Great Falls s one of the best employers in Montana in its first-ever ranking of “America’s Best-in-State Employers.”
For its inaugural ranking, Forbes divided the pool of contestants into 51 lists to account for each state and Washington, D.C. Six employers were selected in Montana, including Benefis.

Benefis was selected because it encourages professional development and employee engagement, provides competitive benefit packages, offers access to more affordable health care, displays cultural sensitivity and its employees consistently support each other in various ways like donating PTO and giving to the “Caring for Our Own” fund.
Benefis Health System Benefis Health System is a not-for-profit community health system that serves residents in a geographical area encompassing a 15-county region. Benefis has five campuses including Benefis Teton Medical Center in Choteau and employs more than 3,200 individuals.
Benefis employees are offered comprehensive benefits, including health, dental and vision insurance plans, a 403(b) pension plan with a 5% contribution match that increases based on tenure, among other benefits like access to two employee fitness centers for just $5 a month. Benefis also offers up to $3,000 per year per employee in tuition reimbursement and scholarships through its foundation.
As part of the commitment to be the best place to work, Benefis has maintained a no-layoff policy and provided annual pay increases to its employees for 16 consecutive years.
In collaboration with the analytics firm Statista, Forbes asked more than 80,000 employees working for U.S. companies and organizations with at least 500 employees to evaluate their employers. Employees were also asked to determine how likely they would be to recommend their employer to someone else. Participation in the survey was voluntary, and respondents were recruited to maximize reach and representation of the U.S. workforce.
