As businesses, civic organizations and individuals begin planning their entries in the “Hooray for the Red, White and Blue” 4th of July parade in Choteau, the Choteau Chamber of Commerce wants everyone to know about the new parade participation guidelines that go into effect this year.

The Chamber wants everyone planning to enter this year’s parade to be familiar with these guidelines that are designed to make sure the parade flows smoothly, that no one is injured and that everyone enjoys this patriotic celebration.

Following is the information contained in these guidelines:

•Stay on the parade route the entire duration of the parade. The parade route runs from the Teton County Courthouse north on Main Avenue to Seventh Avenue Northwest, where the route turns left and goes back south down Seventh Avenue to the Choteau High School parking lot, where the parade will disband.

•Be cognizant of your surroundings on the parade route and in the parade itself.

•When your entry is around horses or other animals, do not rev your engine, play loud music or make loud noises.

•Be courteous to your fellow entrants and spectators.

•If you are throwing candy to the crowd, throw it low to the ground, do not throw it at individuals. You can throw candy from both sides of your float.

•Pay attention to the parade staff.

•Do not stop along the route at any time unless your vehicle is disabled or you are asked to pull over by parade staff.

•Keep pace. The parade is on a schedule to make sure that it does not impact other 4th of July activities.

•If you fall behind, you will be asked to pull over and let the rest of the parade pass.

•Participating in the parade is a privilege. If you are asked to leave the parade or not start in the parade because of noncompliance with the guidelines, please allow others through.

•Parade chairperson has the final decision on any matters related to these guidelines.
