Fourth Fireworks

All Week

•On sale: Tickets for the American Legion Rodeo, Choteau Chamber of Commerce Steak Fry and Choteau Soroptimists Duck Races available at select shops in Choteau. Tickets also available at the gate for most events.

•Fireworks donations sought: Donate to the community fireworks program at the Choteau City Office, Choteau Acantha, First Bank of Montana and Choteau Drug.

•Purchase fireworks at the Choteau Booster Club, the Gebhart Family, the Bomber Brothers fireworks stands. Fireworks can be set off in the city limits as follows: July 1 and 2, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.; July 3, 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. on July 4; July 4, 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. on July 5.

•Preregister for the Got Grit? obstacle course (July 3) at or call 590-4033 or 590-0029. Pre-registration is $30 per person; race-day registration is $35 per person. Family discounts offered.

•Preregister for Rocky’s Road 4-mile and 1-mile fun runs (July 4) at the Choteau Acantha or the Stage Stop Inn or $15 for pre-registration; $20 for race-day registration. Family discounts offered.

Tuesday, July 3

•9 a.m.-2 p.m. — Choteau Soroptimists Summer Festival, arts and crafts vendors, concessions, music, Choteau City Park. Free admission.

•9 a.m.-2 p.m. — Registration and packet pickup in the City Park for the Got Grit? Obstacle Course Race. Race begins at 3 p.m. Race-day registration $35.

•Noon-1 p.m. — Choteau Community Band Concert in the City Park. Bring your blanket or lawn chair and listen to the band under the direction of Jeanette McCormick.

•1 p.m. — Choteau Soroptimists Duck Races on Spring Creek in the City Park. Duck tickets will sell for $5 each and ducks will compete in several heats and the main event.

•3 p.m. — Got Grit obstacle course race starts.

•4-9:30 p.m. — Choteau Chamber of Commerce brewfest, featuring the music of “Little Jane and the Pistol Whips.” $10 admission.

•6 p.m. — Gates open at the Choteau Rodeo Grounds for the “Small Town Throw Down” Mixed Martial Arts cage fighting sponsored by the Sons of the American Legion. Fights start at 7 p.m. $20 admission. Proceeds benefit the community fireworks display and other community and youth-based events and programs.

•Evening — Open jukebox at the Antler Bar, starting at 6 p.m.; street dance at 9 p.m. the American Legion Club.

Tuesday, July 4

•Reminder: No parking on Main Avenue North from the Courthouse to St. Joseph’s Catholic Church until after the 4th of July Parade.

•6:45-7:30 a.m. — Race-day registration, “Rocky’s Road” 4-mile and 1-mile fun runs, Choteau High School track. Both races start at 7:45 a.m. Race-day registration $20 per participant. Kids 12 and under run free.

•8 a.m. — American Legion Club breakfast serving biscuits and gravy, Bloody Marys and Caesars.

•8 a.m. — Bright Eyes animal shelter bake sale in front of First Bank of Montana.

•9 a.m. — Parade lineup behind Teton County Courthouse. “Diggin’ It” theme floats wanting to be judged for prize money must pay a $5 entry fee.

•10 a.m. — “Diggin’ It” parade, sponsored by the Choteau Chamber.

•11 a.m.-1 p.m. — Choteau Chamber Pitchfork Fondue Steak Fry, at the Pavilion in the City Park. Steak plates $15; hotdog plates $8.

•2 p.m. — Choteau American Legion NRA Rodeo, Choteau Rodeo Grounds. (Community band begins performing in the stands at 1:15 p.m.) Reserved seating tickets are $17. General admission is $12 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under.

•4:30 p.m. — Second and final section of slack starts at the American Legion NRA Rodeo at the Choteau Rodeo Grounds.

•6 p.m. — Open jukebox at the Antler Bar.

•Dusk — Community fireworks display.
